TOTALLEE FM Launch
So as you know, I have recently acquired a beautiful baby microphone affectionately dubbed "Mike"
However the honeymoon period is drawing to a close for poor old Mike
No more lazy days stretched out on the desk, basking in the sunlight... because shortly he will be put to use in a MASSIVE way
As I mentioned in my main blog, I have decided to launch my OWN radio station TOTALLEE FM
For far too long I have been hanging out for a decent radio show! One that doesn't play the same playlist day in-day out and who's idea of a *retro flashback* is the B52's "Love Shack" (to be honest, I "love Shack", but it is not the only tune to come out of last century, as most radio stations would have you believe)
So since nobody has come up with a station I like, hell I thought i'd start my own
However as I am a complete newbie to the world of internet broadcasting, it's gonna take me a while to find my legs...or voice...as the case may be
I've found some KILLER software, now I just have to figure out how it all works
I'm not sure whether i'll set it up to be a streaming station (where you can click on a link and listen to the station 24/7) OR if i'm just gonna record an hour's program each week and post a link for you to download if you wish...
I'll see how I go, but either way... VERY EXCITING!!!!!!!!
Now here's where your help is needed....
I wanna know some of your opinions on current radio formats that you're familiar with!
The stuff you like
The stuff you hate
The kinda stuff you'd LOVE to hear
and any suggestions, ideas, music, segment ideas you have
I'd love to hear from ya's!
As far as a launch date goes... STAY TUNED

Mika = Captivation

I have been captivated
LOVE LOVE LOVE Mika's debut album *Life in Cartoon Motion*!
It is truly incredible!! It's got a chune for every mood and colour of the emotional rainbow
His voice is bloody amazing.. Anyone with balls that can hit notes that high is highly talented or is a Harry-Highpants, cause I swear to god, even with my genetic advantage aka estrogen + lack of penis, I can't even get that high
Seriously tho, it's essentially an upbeat album of flamboyant pop songs + beautiful dreamy what-I-like-to-call 'thinking songs'
------------------
Track-by-track Rundown
1) Grace Kelly ~ Song-of-the-FREAKING-year!!! I have never bounced so much in my life! @ work, @ home, @ the mall, in the car - not advisable when severe concentration is required aka peak hour - yeah it happened once and let's just say I received a record number of *beep beep's* - but sucks to them I was enjoying myself
Lyrics are awesome, melody is sweet as candy, topped off with the "Kachinggggga!" @ the end - It's an instant classic
2) Lollipop ~ Funnest track on the record!
Sounds like someone's playing the spoons there somewhere's, the piano is bloody great and when the kiddies and the trumpet's get goin` the whole thing takes off
3) My Interpretation ~ My bet is that he was listening to a bit of Robbie whilst penning this one It's very reminiscent of "Come Undone" - melody and harmony wise.. so therefore I love it to pieces Yet again the piano is just beautiful and I love the way the bridge glides slowly upwards - get's this girl levitating lemme tell you
4) Love Today ~ Oh man - Definitely my FAVE track! (at the moment anywayz) This one puts a smile on my dile which won't leave for an entire day
It's just so freaking positive you can't help but dance around like a twit
5) Relax (Take it Easy) ~ Such a Scissor Sisters vibe this one - I'm Lovin It Some funky xylophone work - who the hell doesn't love xylophones?! + the bass has such a groove and the ding-a-ling-a-ling of the guitar - very 70's. Very cool.
6) Any Other World ~ Oh boy, where do I start with this one... it gets me every time Lyrically it touches me - but ultimately I think it's the strings that get the tear ducts going.. It's just such a gorgeous song and he sings it so perfectly "Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in" - God i'll set myself off in a minute
7) Billy Brown ~ To be honest I laughed out loud the first time I heard the intro to this one It's just so cute! Very Beatle-ish - shades of "she's leaving home" and "Got to get you into my life" - overall it's just a cute la-di-da life is fab ditty Much 2 the trumpets
8) Big Girls (You Are Beautiful) ~ Okay so clearly i'm a fan of the message - but this song is all about one of the lines for me.... 'A diet coke and a pizza please' it's SPOT ON!! Every girlfriend I've ever had who has been on a diet/or a little on the more-to-love side always orders diet coke with every meal! Doesn't matter if it's a pizza, McDonalds, any other artery-clogging-fat-fest, they ALWAYS order a diet coke to 'balance' it out Nutters! Oh yeah - I love this chune 2 - gonna be the next single Gr8 to dance 2!
9) Stuck In The Middle ~ This one's in the same company as Billy Brown for me - cute as a pea - are pea's cute?! Yes. I love the scatty sort of do-bah-bah type singing he does towards the end - just a cute lil twinkle on the ol ivory's - Me likey very much ^_^
10) Happy Ending ~ WOW. Such a pretty chune. This one stirs the emotional fibres as well Highlight's his amazing falsetto perfectly and actually let's you hear just how versatile his voice is... The way it's delivered and lyrically it reminds me yet again of Robbie - maybe coz it's talking about being wasted or something... but my fave bit of this is the "little bit of love, little bit of love" repitition leading up to the big finale! So cool.
11) Ring Ring ~ Man I love this track. Drums hammer in time with ur heart - a lot more intense than the other tracks - but the cute lil computer-like-pops going up and down in the backgroud keeps the cute-mika feel alive Love the bells too - Ring Ring - only natural to have bells Lee darling...
12) Over My Shoulder ~ Bit of a dissappointment this one... prolly because it's a lot sadder and depressing and haunting and overall a lot more sombre compared to the rest of the album - I just don't like it.. I always turn the stereo off before it gets the chance to be played, coz man I don't wanna end on a downer - who does?! Mika my son, cheer up babe!

I propose a toast to..
Mr John Mayer's earholes! HOORAH
About a week ago I surfed on over to JM's official site and had a scroll through the man's blog. Usually he just craps on about random stuff that usually makes no sense to me, but one entry stood out:-

"I just listened to the album that will take me through the rest of the year... New songs to remind me of the things that are taking place right now... My mouth is agape while I listen. (Easy, Perez...) I saw them make the Letterman appearance of the year a few nights ago and had to download. So do you. This guy is a melody champ. Don't let the images and soundscapes fool you. This guy is all John Waite and I love it. If you're unsure, check out Typical, Chaos and You Are Mine..."
So what did I do - got the album
And I gotta say, the guy may have bloody AWFUL taste in women (e.g J.L. Hewitt, J. Simpson..) but his taste in music =
Funnily enough my fave tracks from the album are the ones he suggests- but the whole album has an awesome vibe thats familiar but different. I realise how stupid that sounds, but it's got a mainstream-ish quirky sound. Ahh stuff it, I can't explain it, you'll just have to go listen and judge for yourself

Lemme know whatcha think

Welcome to my little hide-away on the web dedicated to all things that please my earholes. MUSIC is my passion, my anti-drug and my Life Force. MUSIC=OXYGEN. So because music is all I tend to go on and on about - this little pozzi will be the spot where I babble on about anything music related that i'm in LOVE with or a place for me to crap on about how much I dislike something in the music world
Eg. Who the fudge gave Rihanna a microphone... seriously
Enjoy!

Heavenly Lyrics
"She Moves In Her Own Way"
The Kooks

So at my show on Monday
I was told that someday
You'd be on your way to better things
It's not about your make-up
Or how you try to shape up
To these tiresome paper dreams
Paper dreams honey

So now you pour your heart out
You're telling me you're far out
You're all about to lie down for your cause
But you don't pull my strings
Cause I'm a better man
Moving on to better things

But uh oh, I love her because
She moves in her own way
But uh oh, she came to my show
Just to hear about my day

And at the show on Tuesday
She was in her mindset
Tempered firs and spangled boots
Looks are deceiving
Making me believe it
And these tiresome paper dreams
Paper dreams honey, yeah

So won't you go far
Tell me you're a keeper
You're all about to lie down for your cause
But you don't pull my strings because
Cause I'm a better man
Moving on to better things

But uh oh, I love her because
She moves in her own way
But uh oh, she came to my show
Just to hear about my day

Yes our wish's that we never made it
Through all the summers
We kept them up instead of
Kicking us back down to the suburbs
Yes our wish's that we never made it
Through all the summers
We kept them up instead of
Kicking us back down to the suburbs

But uh oh, I love her because
She moves in her own way
But uh oh, she came to my show
Just to hear about my day

But uh oh, I love her because
She moves in her own way
But uh oh, she came to my show
Just to hear about my day
