Mika = Captivation

I have been captivated
LOVE LOVE LOVE Mika's debut album *Life in Cartoon Motion*!
It is truly incredible!! It's got a chune for every mood and colour of the emotional rainbow
His voice is bloody amazing.. Anyone with balls that can hit notes that high is highly talented or is a Harry-Highpants, cause I swear to god, even with my genetic advantage aka estrogen + lack of penis, I can't even get that high
Seriously tho, it's essentially an upbeat album of flamboyant pop songs + beautiful dreamy what-I-like-to-call 'thinking songs'

Track-by-track Rundown
1) Grace Kelly ~ Song-of-the-FREAKING-year!!! I have never bounced so much in my life! @ work, @ home, @ the mall, in the car - not advisable when severe concentration is required aka peak hour - yeah it happened once and let's just say I received a record number of *beep beep's* - but sucks to them I was enjoying myself
Lyrics are awesome, melody is sweet as candy, topped off with the "Kachinggggga!" @ the end - It's an instant classic
2) Lollipop ~ Funnest track on the record!
Sounds like someone's playing the spoons there somewhere's, the piano is bloody great and when the kiddies and the trumpet's get goin` the whole thing takes off
3) My Interpretation ~ My bet is that he was listening to a bit of Robbie whilst penning this one It's very reminiscent of "Come Undone" - melody and harmony wise.. so therefore I love it to pieces Yet again the piano is just beautiful and I love the way the bridge glides slowly upwards - get's this girl levitating lemme tell you
4) Love Today ~ Oh man - Definitely my FAVE track! (at the moment anywayz) This one puts a smile on my dile which won't leave for an entire day
It's just so freaking positive you can't help but dance around like a twit
5) Relax (Take it Easy) ~ Such a Scissor Sisters vibe this one - I'm Lovin It Some funky xylophone work - who the hell doesn't love xylophones?! + the bass has such a groove and the ding-a-ling-a-ling of the guitar - very 70's. Very cool.
6) Any Other World ~ Oh boy, where do I start with this one... it gets me every time Lyrically it touches me - but ultimately I think it's the strings that get the tear ducts going.. It's just such a gorgeous song and he sings it so perfectly "Say goodbye to the world you thought you lived in" - God i'll set myself off in a minute
7) Billy Brown ~ To be honest I laughed out loud the first time I heard the intro to this one It's just so cute! Very Beatle-ish - shades of "she's leaving home" and "Got to get you into my life" - overall it's just a cute la-di-da life is fab ditty Much 2 the trumpets
8) Big Girls (You Are Beautiful) ~ Okay so clearly i'm a fan of the message - but this song is all about one of the lines for me.... 'A diet coke and a pizza please' it's SPOT ON!! Every girlfriend I've ever had who has been on a diet/or a little on the more-to-love side always orders diet coke with every meal! Doesn't matter if it's a pizza, McDonalds, any other artery-clogging-fat-fest, they ALWAYS order a diet coke to 'balance' it out Nutters! Oh yeah - I love this chune 2 - gonna be the next single Gr8 to dance 2!
9) Stuck In The Middle ~ This one's in the same company as Billy Brown for me - cute as a pea - are pea's cute?! Yes. I love the scatty sort of do-bah-bah type singing he does towards the end - just a cute lil twinkle on the ol ivory's - Me likey very much ^_^
10) Happy Ending ~ WOW. Such a pretty chune. This one stirs the emotional fibres as well Highlight's his amazing falsetto perfectly and actually let's you hear just how versatile his voice is... The way it's delivered and lyrically it reminds me yet again of Robbie - maybe coz it's talking about being wasted or something... but my fave bit of this is the "little bit of love, little bit of love" repitition leading up to the big finale! So cool.
11) Ring Ring ~ Man I love this track. Drums hammer in time with ur heart - a lot more intense than the other tracks - but the cute lil computer-like-pops going up and down in the backgroud keeps the cute-mika feel alive Love the bells too - Ring Ring - only natural to have bells Lee darling...
12) Over My Shoulder ~ Bit of a dissappointment this one... prolly because it's a lot sadder and depressing and haunting and overall a lot more sombre compared to the rest of the album - I just don't like it.. I always turn the stereo off before it gets the chance to be played, coz man I don't wanna end on a downer - who does?! Mika my son, cheer up babe!
