Books in 2007 - The Challenge is ON! |
It has to be said that I have a real love/hate
relationship with reading. The hate part, is due to a number of
factors - ie. lack of time, patience and the fact that every time
I settle down under the cosy covers, with my electric blanket
set on 3, the lights down low, I open the pages and within 3.2
seconds I've entered Snoozeland
I really do have the best intentions it's just that bed = sleep.
I've tried to combat this problem by setting myself up outside,
or in the bath, even in the car. All attempts fail as I always
doze off! Except for reading in the car - that just makes
me hurl
So in a final attempt to kickstart my want and need to read more,
i'm participating in a challenge put forward by Aleida
. The goal is to read 12 books in 12 months
I've come in halfway through the year but dang it I am so up for
this man!

"The OTher Side OF The Story" Marian Keyes Thoughts ~
It must be known that I absolutely ADORE Marian Keyes
She is my absoulte FAVE author and she has just completed yet ANOTHER book - which I am so stoked for but that hardly encapsulates my thoughts on this one does it?!
I luuurve this book
It's written from 3 points of view and allows you to view the characters and plot from all sorts of angles. It's bloody hilarious and as most of Marian's character's have over analysing tendencies - it's surprisingly relaxing to read about tehir over-active minds and give my own a break

"Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows" J.K. Rowling Thoughts ~
The final installment, the last adventure, the final piece of the puzzle !!!
I won't waffle on too much incase I accidently spoil it for ya, but HOLY CHEDDAR it is definitely my FAVE book of the series!
I found it to be such a bittersweet read. It felt great to finally see how the story ends, but at the same time I really didn't want to finish it, cause once that last page was read - it would all be over
However, I thought J.K. did such a BRILLIANT job of tying all the loose ends together and I know i'm going to enjoy reading the series over and over and over and etc

"Stupid White Men" Michael Moore Thoughts ~
Facsinating, but freaky. The man has done his research and as always has enough facts and figures to make one realise just how f'd in the A the world really is
Discussing issues such as race, social status, corporate and political America and the infamous 2000 Bush/Gore election, Moore draws your attention to what really goes on behind the scenes (and right in front of our eyes ) and the rippling effects it has on society as we know it today. He shows the difference between what it is and how it should be. I advise you not to read this baby if you're settling in for the night, because just like the man's movies, it's enough to frighten the B-jeezuz out of you. Think horror movies are the bees-knees of scaryness?! Try facing reality head on. Bloody terrifying, but hoorah for Michael Moore and his epic exposea
