24th Feb, 2008 -- MCFLYING HIGH!!!!!!!!

MCFLY ROCKED SYDNEY

GUYS I CANNOT PUT INTO WORDS HOW FREAKING INCREDIBLE THE GIG WAS ON SATURDAY
Kathryn (cousin) and I rocked up to the Annandale about 2 hours before the doors opened and UNFORTUNATELY we JUST missed meeting the guys by about half an hour!!!! However the fans that did get to meet them were over the MOON and said that when the guys arrived they "Jumped" from their car and were incredibly excited to greet their Aussie fans! Signing everything and taking pictures before heading into the pub. At midday the doors opened and luckily for Kat and I the entrance was actually what we thought was the end of the queue and considering we were almost last to arrive, we ended up being the first ones in!!
On the way in there was a little table with 2 boxes of merchandise, one pink shirt and one blue (check the album for pics - link is @ the end of this blog entry ) - clearly the organisers didn't think they'd need much merch.... yeah they were bloody wrong!! Shirts were snapped up in a matter of minutes - luckily enough I scored one
We then went through to the stage and let me tell you, it was so incredibly intimate and cosy!
We moved our way over to the left (Tom's side) and managed to score a spot on a raised ledge that lined the walls, so when all 300 fans were in, Kat and I were above everyone else, about a metre and a half away from the lads and at their eye level! SO STOKED!!!
"Hereos For Hire", a local pop/punk band kicked things off with a set lasting about half an hour...
It was during one of their songs, about half way through their set that the first sighting happened We glanced over upon hearing a few screams from the other side of the stage and there was Danny Jones bopping along to the music
As soon as the room realised he was there the place ERUPTED into screams and frantic waves
The lead singer paused and announced that Danny was at the side of the stage. Danny gave the crowd a massive smile then left the band to it and headed back into the hotel bar
After "Hereos for Hire", another local band "Town Hall Steps" took the stage. I 'd them! Particularly the second song (anyone who went, please lemme know the name if you remember it! Cheers! )
They had a much more polished and tighter sound than the first band and they got the crowd so pumped for MCFLY
After about half an hour they left the stage...
Straight away the room got so much HOTTER - I forgot to mention, it was a beautiful sunny Saturday, nearing 30 degrees celcius outside - that combined with a McFly gig = BOILING POINT!
Whilst the roadies brought on the guys instruments (including Dougie's pink glittery 'lights-up' bass) the crowd started revving up
The "Mc-Fly" chant began and was absolutely deafening! Then the Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi! Oi! Oi!" chant went up!
After some final mic checks, a roadie came on stage and announced the band to the crowd and to the sounds of 300 SCREAMING AUSSIE FANS, MCFLY took the stage for their first ever Australian gig!!
The place went NUTS!!!!!!!!
Quick run-down of songs--
THAT GIRL - The whole room was bouncing/clapping/screaming the words!! Cameras were in over-drive, and right from the get-go sweat was pouring off everyone as the guys kicked off the show
FRIDAY NIGHT - The boys moved straight into 'Friday Night' - now excuse me while I spazz out a bit here - during this song the guys were bounding about like crazy, but for Kat and I the best bit was when Danny locked eyes with Kat and on the third "I think i'm gonna loose it, loose it, loose it" before the end of the song, he sang along with AND smiled at her - we went a lil bit crazy (okay, A LOT crazy!!)
Then the boys stopped for a chat - Danny and Dougie joking about McFly being just an average band, Tom stating "I can't believe it, this is the first sunny day we've had in weeks and we're stuck in here!", Tom also said he couldn't believe they had fans on the other side of the world who knew their songs
The whole room cheered in acknowledgement and I think the guys were genuinely surprised at how enthusiastic their Aussie fans are and how much we them and their music
OBVIOUSLY - was next and the crowds singing was acknowledged by Danny at the end who thanked us and said we were awesome
STAR GIRL - WENT OFF!!!!!!!! The whole room bounced along with the guys for the ENTIRE song - we even managed to stuff up the pause before the final chorus, just like the english fans!!
By now the temperature in the room was scorching hot and poor Tom was feeling it - sweat pouring off him and I swear they each consumed about 5,000 litres of water during the show...
THE HEART NEVER LIES - was introduced by Tom who began by saying that they were about to play the "last single they released in England" - before he could even say the name of the song the crowd was screaming for it
I think he was a little blown away by just how loud the crowd were singing the lyrics - definitely a crowd favourite!
TRANSYLVANIA - Dear God... SONG OF THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!! Tom let Dougie introduce it, and he did in his usual fashion, saying that "..now is the time to go to the toilet or go and have a rest for about 3 mins coz the next song is crap, etc.." Then he began..
well...
..the crowd really did measure up to the vocal talents of those on the Up Close and Personal tour - the crowd sang along so loudly and passionately that just before they went into the chorus Doug looked up with a massive smile on his face, raised his arm and and brought it down with a massive "YES!!" like this dude here
He was so excited and pumped that we knew all the words
I WANNA HOLD YOU - was next, and let me just say that this was my pick of the afternoon for a very reason... let me remind you that I was standing about a metre and a half away from the stage on a raised ledge in line with the guys line of vision...
The song went off as it usually does, Tom spinning around, Danny spot on with his voice, crowd dancing up a storm - here comes my moment
During the we interupt this program" bit, Danny looked over at ME and for a lil bit we were singing along together, but me being me decided to be a complete knob-head and gave him a massive cheesy grin and he broke into a smile, gave a lil nod then began his solo...
I HAD A MOMENT WITH DANNY JONES - LIFE IS SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAD A MOMENT WITH DANNY JONES - LIFE IS SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAD A MOMENT WITH DANNY JONES - LIFE IS SO DAMN GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also scored a MASSIVE pain in the back from where Kathryn was hitting me when she realised what was happening (luv u hun )
ALL ABOUT YOU - Maximum crowd participation on this one! 300 pairs of arms waving from side to side whist singing along - truly beautiful moment in the show - the guys were all smiles
I'LL BE OKAY - I also have to take a moment to tell you that I got quite a few smiles and sing-a-longs with Mr. Fletcher during this one - particularly during the 2nd verse - as you can guess i'm ONE VERY HAPPY WOMAN!!! The song went off! The crowd were STILL in fine voice and the room felt like the inside of a volcano but thankfully they played their way through it
PLEASE PLEASE - rounded off the main set and as you can imagine, it was incredible! Danny approaced the crowd and got us to sing "Please Please" back to him repeatedly and even threw in an extra "pa-pa-pa-papa-please" to get the crowd going! I wouldn't be surprised if the penguins in Antarctica could hear us, we were so freaking loud
After the song the guys thanked us and left the stage to chants and ear-breaking screams. After a couple of minutes, Tom and Danny returned to the stage with a little surprise in store...
Tom took a moment to explain to the crowd that the reason they are in Australia is to record their 4th studio album (massive cheers went up!), he then went on to explain that WE WERE GOING TO BE ON THAT RECORD!!!!
He got us to chant WE DON'T CARE" over and over before then chanting "WE DON'T, WE DON'T CARE" over and over again and then got us to clap in time with Danny - all the while we were being filmed by their new producer!!
Honestly I could not believe how special this day was becoming! Total day man!!
Harry and Dougie then joined them onstage and Doug went on to introduce...
ROOM ON THE 3RD FLOOR - he told a little story about how Tom and Danny once shared a hotel room, which he dubbed the "love shack", going on to say something about lotion and Tom's backside (search youtube, i'm sure you'll find it)
Anywayz, After a killer performance of ROTTF, Harry was called upon to come and say hello to the crowd, he came to the front of the stage, introduced us to his back-pack (the other guys sighed, rolled their eyes and laughed), he then instructed the crowd to take a photo of THE bag, which naturally everyone did (have a lookie at the video I posted on youtube) then he bowed the bag, took a bow himself and returned to his drums to join the boys who signed off on the most energetic and full-on performance of..
FIVE COLOURS IN HER HAIR imaginable!!
Then...alas...it was all over. My face could of stopped traffic it was so FREAKING RED and I looked as though I'd just stepped out of the shower I was so drenched with sweat
It really was the BEST GIG OF MY LIFE and certainly exceeded ALL of my expectations! They really are a truly amazing live band

9th Mar, 2008 -- GREATEST GIG EVAAAA!!!
MCFLY = BEST LIVE BAND EVAAA!!!

1st March McFly Gig was OUTTA THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Over 100 pictures from the Gig can be found over @ PHOTOBUCKET
I seriously had no idea I had taken that many, but Yay Lee
Okay, now, first of all, let me make a MASSIVE APOLOGY to all of you for taking my sweet arse time in blogging about a day which can only be described as
THE BESTEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE BESTEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE BESTEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was FREAKING INCREDIBLE
To be honest I think it's taken me a whole week just to come to terms with how amazing this past month has truly been!!
To be a part of McFly's first 2 shows EVER in Australia is rather special and yeah i'm still a bit
So let me take you back to last Saturday...
Kathryn (my fabulous Cousin) and I loaded up the and made the 3 and a half hour trek up to Sydney for the second time that week to see the GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
We hit the road just after 5am - completely delirious, coffee deprived and SO FREAKING EXCITED!!
Made it to Sydney just after 9 - speant about an hour sprucing ourselves up aka trying to make ourselves look half human and a little less 'Planet of the Apes'
Then considering we missed meeting the guys by about 10mins the previous week, we set out for the venue a little earlier...
Along the way about 5 mini cooper s's passed us by & as i'm sure every McFly fan can relate to, we tend to take Mini sightings as 'signs'...No?!? just me?! Okay then...
Anywayz, as we made our way to the venue we stopped at a set of lights, right infront of a music store...
When we looked in the window, what did we see?!? A PINK HELLO KITTY GUITAR exactely like the one DANNY has been snapped with in the past! (see 1st pic in the photobucket album)
So needless to say, from that moment on, Kathryn and I agreed that it was going to be a Danny Day...
How FREAKING RIGHT WE WERE
Finally we made it to the Hotel and even though we were almost 2 hours early, there were still 300 people infront of us. Normally I would have been iritated, but to see so many Aussie McFly fans - really did warm the cockles of my
Then before we knew it we heard screams from right around the corner and sure enough the boys van could be seen turning into the secured carpark @ the back of the hotel
Everyone went Spazz and charged round the back to get glimpses whilst Kat and I decided to be all mature and wait around looking all grown up and as though all this fan girlishness was beneath us, when really we were just as keen to see them - but with our years of experience, we knew the guys would probably go straight into the pub..
Turns out we were a lil bit wrong
Tom, Dougie and Harry greeted fans and signed everything thrown at them through the wire fence whist Danny was nowhere to be seen...
HOWEVER....there were 2 girls who knew EXACTELY where the man had gotten to....
Whilst the mob of fans were down with the other three, Kat and I took the opportunity to peer into the tinted windows of the hotel to check out the stage and it just so happened that there was a familiar looking young man inside. Checkered shirt, cap, 3/4 length pants with his belt half way down his arse...
Sure enough it was Mr. Danny Jones Kat and I could not believe it. Here we were COMPLETELY SEPERATED from all the other McFly fans - staring in at Mr. Danny Jones. So as not to alert everyone to his whereabouts we quietly stood there peering in at him whilst he checked out the stage... then all of a sudden he turned to face our direction and started walking along the bar TOWARDS US
Kat and I started waving and then he looked up, stared right at us, then gave us a wave and broke into a smile before heading into another room.
DANNY JONES WAVED AND SMILED RIGHT AT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most Perfect start to the day!!!!!!!!! After that I didn't care that we didn't get to meet them! A wave and a smile from one of the greatest musicians on the planet and THE BEST vocalist EVER was all I needed. Danny Jones, I thank you
So as you can imagine we kind of wandered around in a state of shock till the doors opened
Unfortunately we didn't get our ultimate pozzi from the week before, but we did manage to score a spot on the raised stair at the back, directly in the middle! Perfect view of the entire stage and the boys
The first support act to grace the stage was a 3 piece from Newcastle which you guys MUST check out!!!
SHORT STACK got the place going nuts! They were fun, fast and bouncy and their tunes are freaking fantastic I strongly recommend you check out their Myspace Page
After their set, the more mature sounding ACID EYELINER came on stage. These guys were freaking incredible and luckily Kat and I managed to get signed Ep's after the gig! (pic in photobucket album!)
Then after much build up, on came the guys!
Now instead of going through the set list like I did last week (the guys played the same set list btw), I have something a lil bit better in store for you guys
If you haven't already checked out my podcast page you must do so right now!!
Thanks to the Lovely Erin, we got some killer audio from the gig!! Which has now been preseved in podcast form forever and ever
So head on over to Totallee Podcast and have a listen
The show was SOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the previous week - the guys were a lot happier, comfortable and a lot more talkative and treated us to stories about Tom being hypnotised, mardi gras and shared their thoughts on our beautiful country
So check out the podcast to hear all that!
However on a personal note, I am FREAKING OUT PEOPLE!!!..and let me tell you why....
During 'Obviously', the man who was filming the entire show, for a possible behind the scenes feature which may accompany the upcoming album... stood RIGHT INFRONT OF US AND FILMED US FOR AT LEAST 15 SECONDS!!
So if and when any footage of the Aussie gig is featured, be on the lookout for a red-faced loonatic waving a purple and white McFly Scarf around and dancing like a complete dickwad, cause that'll be me
Now another highlight of the day... after it was all over and both Kat and I were completely knackered we spotted the guys car (as pictured in the photobucket album) - Unfortunately so did a lot of other fans , but us being so much more cleverer (is that a word?! lol) we seperated ourselves from the crowd and waited a little further up the street .
After about 20mins it was obvious from the copious amounts of screaming that the car was about to make its get away and the boys would be leaving our sights...
The car slowly moved through the crowd and as it turned on to the street, we saw Harry and Doug waving from their seats on the other side of the car, Tom in the backseat on our side, smiling and packing things into his bag and there was Danny, hanging out the front passenger window, sunnies on, waving and staring at us as their car drove off into the afternoon traffic.
So to summarise...
2 AMAZING GIGS, OUR CHANTING WILL BE FEATURED ON THE BOYS NEXT ALBUM, THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING ON THE NEXT BEHIND THE SCENES DVD, COUNTLESS ONSTAGE LOOKS, 2 SING ALONGS WITH DANNY JONES, COUNTLESS SING ALONGS AND EYE CONTACT WITH TOM FLETCHER, 100's OF PHOTOS, A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES AND....
Not 1, but 2 WAVES FROM DANNY JONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALL IN THE SPACE OF A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

F#@K I LOVE MCFLY
