Ahhh yes Neville my boy! You have been chosen as the next in line (aka. my crochet queue) to be hooked into existence !!
PART ONE is up! I was going to be patient and wait for parts two and three to upload before making them public, but honestly, part one took approximately 4 HOURS to upload and process ! Which, to be honest, is a complete miracle in itself!! I've tried to get these vids up multiple times this week, but my connection just wasn't playing ball man !
ANYWHO! I should be able to get the other vids up tomorrow.... !
For those of you who have yet to dip your hook into this type of crochet, I hope you find this tutorial helpful ! I tried to get right back to basics with this video, so that those of you who have never even picked up a crochet hook before would be able to get the gist of the stitches used, how to follow a pattern and to listen to me sound like an absolute twig and lead you astray for an hour !
The main thing I really wanted to address with this video is how to add and work a border to a piece, as A LOT of you have emailed me in a whole heap of doubt about how to go about it. Hopefully my waffle has made sense and has helped you out
Stay tuned for parts 2 and 3! They are uploading as we speak (hopefully uninterrupted) and should be online over the course of the next 24 hours !

Keeping it in the family!

2016 Totallee CAL UPDATE!!! The oh-so-FREAKING-TALENTED SHARON has just completed her portrait and.... my god guys... !!!!
Stunning. Absolutely stunning.
This portrait is of Sharon's grandmother and my goodness wasn't she lovely I adore this style of portrait that was so popular back in the day. I have one of my maternal gran that I treasure and have staring at me from nearly every room I just think they capture the essence of the person so well. Something about the softness the lighting gives... plus the fact that they look so beautiful and could rival any movie star in Hollywood during the golden era
I LOVE the little twinkle of blue you have popped in her eyes and the palette is spot on Sharon !!
I'm also SUPER happy that you took the size comparison photo!!!! The family resemblance is strong in this one !!!
Thank you so so so much for taking part Sharon!!! I know this has been a WIP and labour of love for quite some time ( still going with mine *cough*) but my god I can assure you it was well worth it ! You've done an OUTSTANDING job and I hope you and your family treasure this masterpiece for years to come

The 'Hooks & Books' Part of me

The dazzling human unit known as Naelany asked if I would like to write a guest post for her blog Another Piece of Me a little while ago, which I happily agreed to, and it went up today !
Thank you for the opportunity Naelany apologies for rambling on so much !

Now, video news! I am currently uploading my first of 2 vids to my YouTube channel. The first video is at 21%....
As you all know, I don't have the best of luck when it comes to getting vids up on time, but here's hoping!!!

Lordey Lordey Lordey

It's pretty rare for me to get into any 'new' music...
If I were to calculate the mean age of the tracks on my Ipod, I reckon I would land on 1967
For example, I have my playlist on shuffle in the background as i'm typing this and Lou Christie's "Lightnin' Strikes" is on....
Not complaining! LOVE IT! Just highlights the average track age that pops up !
So the fact that I have had Lorde's "Green Light" on repeat BOTH on my Ipod and IN MY HEAD since it was released is a bloody rare occurrence !!

Obviously it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea and by now the track has probably been put into a lot of peoples "overplayed" folder, but UUUGH I LOVE IT!!!!
I've always been a fan of Lorde's music, but after hearing this and seeing her two performances on 'Saturday Night Live' - Ugh !
However, after watching the clip above for the first time, I thought, okay...cool, it's got my fave Lorde dance moves, nice colours, a little bit meh... THEN I stumbled upon a break down by the lovely Rosianna on YouTube and it BLEW MY MIND! She uploaded this analysis on THE DAY THE CLIP WAS RELEASED! Man how I wish I could condense my thoughts and feelings so succinctly and brilliantly!

As I said, the song won't be to everyone's taste, but Rosianna's break down of the possible 'hidden meanings' and inspiration behind the lyrics, the lights, the sound, the imagery made me appreciate the music video on a whole new level It went from meh to WOW!
Well worth a watch!
So in between random bursts of Lorde-inspired living room dancing, I have been getting my hooking and editing on As usual my software has been iffy, but I should have it up this Saturday !!
In the meantime...

My Editing Software hates me

I'm almost there with the editing guys I have two videos on the way - "HFAB #3" and my first proper tutorial video for youtube
So far the tutorial video is a WHOPPER, clocking in at just over 1 hour and 10 minutes Don't worry!! I will most CERTAINLY be bringing that down to a manageable and respectable time.... ( 1 hour and 8mins....), no but seriously, I will be going in and trimming as many seconds off as I can before posting it
It's just a little difficult to get used to opening up one's editing software and being confronted with THIS!

Anywayz, the good news is that it hasn't frozen on me yet! Or lost my files!....yet.... so we're looking good!! Touch wood
So if you are yet to give this form of crochet a go, or you are new to the site (Welcome !!) this upcoming tutorial video should help you out a BUNCH!
Stay tuned!!!

I am beyond ready to wave cheerio to Summer
The searing heat over the last 3 months has been horrible! Scarves, slouchy hats, coats and boots YES PLEASE!!
Anywayz! That was my long-winded way of saying hello to March! How are you all?!? Are you well?!?! I am still fighting off this bloody cold...
Throat has cleared up, head is clear, just need my nose to get on board and i'll be back to normal !
I'm yet to film HFAB #3! However I have nearly finished editing the tutorial vid to go along with it
I always think filming will take the most time. It doesn't. EDITING zaps all the time !!! I used to leave the room for a pee break during "the award for best editing goes to" category during the Oscars, yeah no, not anymore!!! I have a new found RESPECT for these guys!!! Good golly it's a heck of a job!!
Anywayz! I will have them up as soon as I can !
In Lee-is too-impulsive news,

I have decided to finally blow the dust off this massive chunkster and join in on the #readquixote read-a-long this March, hosted by the lovely Sarai!

GOODREADS GROUP - Feel free to come and join in!

I have owned 'Don Quixote' for a couple of years now and have always found excuses to put it off, but this read-a-long is just what I needed to finally say 'to hell with it' and give it a go! If you have a copy that has been giving you evil glares for years and making you feel like a failure for not picking it up sooner, feel free to join in the discussion over on the Goodreads group (linked above) or on social media using the hashtag #readquixote!
I must admit that I don't know too much about it. Other than it is a comedy...with a dude... a donkey and a hell of a lot of windmills!?!??
Good one Lee, way to generalise one of the most celebrated novels in history
Okie dokie, time to get back to editing this video!! The sooner I get into it, the sooner I can show you the latest piece !
